Realities of our "homestead"

It has been such a long week!  Easter weekend was a blur, and Goomba’s spring break went by so fast, I can hardly believe it’s over.
This past week, I have been wrestling with myself, feeling the weight of self-doubt and my own inadequacies. So I thought I would share with you some truth nuggets I’d been purposely leaving out.

I haven’t posted in a few days, and I’m sorry. It’s just been so busy around here. Goomba started Karate not too long ago, and Caveman has his Masonic functions and I’ve been working so hard out in the yard… Oye.

For the past 3 years, I've been hounding Caveman for some blueberry bushes. He told me the first time that they would get ruined by the neighbors. Sadly, he was probably right. We had some really nasty neighbors at the old house. Here, on the other hand, it was more about space. "Where would you put them?" Now that was the question.....

A Nation of Farmers

By Sharon Astyk & Aaron Newton
A Nation of Farmers is something I believe everyone should read.  It’s honest, and truthful,  passionate and inspiring, without being hippie mumbo jumbo. It uses real facts and realistic ideas. It gives you things to think about every day, and ways to examine your own life, without ever really blaming you of treachery directly. If you haven’t picked it up, do so. We live in a world that need more of the information, truth and creative solutions that a book like this provides. I keep telling Caveman that you could probably teach a college course on this book, it’s that in depth.
