A bit about us

Ma Kita Caveman Goomba
garden strawberry plant

Gardening has been in my blood for generations.  Some of my most favorite memories as a child were gardening with my mother, my Nana, and even my great grandmother, who we called Grammy. When Caveman and I got married, we lived in a small, basement apartment, with no real place to put a garden. We moved shortly after Goomba was born, to another apartment with a small yard, but with all the responsibilities of a newborn, we skipped gardening for a while. About 4 years later, we finally decided to ask the landlord if we could use a spot for gardening, and so, our homesteading journey started.

Since that spring, I’ve read, and researched and experimented to my hearts delight. When we planted our first garden that year, I couldn’t believe how easy it was. Then, naturally, I started preserving and learning more skills. To be honest, I think I was using it all as a distraction from some difficult things that were going on in our lives, but I discovered how very much I loved it.
Now that we have a house of our own, I can't wait to get the garden going. Its gonna take some work, but I've never been one to shy away from that. Bring on the adventure!
