A Nation of Farmers

By Sharon Astyk & Aaron Newton
A Nation of Farmers is something I believe everyone should read.  It’s honest, and truthful,  passionate and inspiring, without being hippie mumbo jumbo. It uses real facts and realistic ideas. It gives you things to think about every day, and ways to examine your own life, without ever really blaming you of treachery directly. If you haven’t picked it up, do so. We live in a world that need more of the information, truth and creative solutions that a book like this provides. I keep telling Caveman that you could probably teach a college course on this book, it’s that in depth.

This book touched on every subject you could possibly conceive connected to food; growing, eating, industrial agriculture, politics, equity, slavery. I know I said it before, but this book is one that I want to read over and over again. Don’t get me wrong. It’s by no means a light read. In fact, I’m a pretty voracious reader, and this book has taken me more than a week to finish.  I may have to take a few days to digest all that I’ve learned from it before I can begin on a new one.

What are you waiting for? Go find it in your library, or better yet, go purchase a copy. You can thank me later.
