Hello Again

It’s been quite a while. I do this every time. I’m so bad at being consistent. But I’m starting to be ok with it. Life isn’t ever consistent. And I can’t compare myself to those around me who are doing “similar” things. They aren’t working with the things I am, and vice versa. So I’m just gonna keep doing it my way. If that means coming and going from this blog, then so be cuz it. You come and go at your leisure. Check in, don’t, it’s all the same to me. I’m honestly not sure anyone truly reads this anyways. So it’s more of an open space for me to ramble. (Get it? “Rambling” Homestead? Haha. I’m a nerd, I know).

As you can probably guess there’s been a lot going on in the last year or so I’ve been absent. Where to begin? There are so many new things since June. I’ll probably forget some things but the gist of it is here

Garden Update: June 2020

Inside:

I don’t have much going inside. Just a few cucurbit (squash, cucumber, pumpkin) seedlings that I started just in case my other ones bit the dust. I do however, have quite a few random odds and ends leftover outside on the greenhouse shelves. I’m contemplating selling them for cheap, if anyone local is interested.

Outside:

Well, it is June, so everything is starting to take off.

ITS BEEN CRAZY BUSY!

Things around the "homestead" have been so very busy. I've been getting the garden going, and trying to build our food storage a little more. I've been learning to make wine and mead, and keeping Gummy Bear busy with walks upon walks. So, in lieu of a garden update (I know I missed April, and now have nearly missed May) I figured I would just give you a ton of lovely photos to look at. I promise a proper update for June, as well as some posts on wine/mead making. Enjoy for now!

So I've finally gotten back to the garden, thank goodness. It's been too long. I've missed playing in the dirt! In the last update I made some promises and I can honestly say, I completed them. Go me!

I had told you I was going to build a hoop house. I lied. Sorry.

Over the winter, they replaced Goomba's storm windows with new ones (the old ones were dangling off the side of the house). So guess what I did with her old ones?

YUPPERS! BUILT A COLD FRAME!
Here are the pictures. I won't bore you with the whole process, unless you ask me to. And, I know, I need to cover that hole in the middle, but it’s hard to find the right moment to use power tools when you’ve always got a baby around. 🤷‍♀️
