I know, I know. This has nothing to do with homesteading. BUT, it is a big part of my life now so I thought I would share it with you. We are finally back to school. I am thrilled to be jumping back in the driver's seat after 5 long months away! I hope I remember how to drive a 40 ft yellow monster.... Just kidding. I got this!
Driving a school bus was never something I had ever considered, but it turned out to be such an incredible job for me. I love kids. And its fairly flexible, given the school schedule. I go in for about 3 hrs in the morning, have approximately 4hrs off and then go back for another 3. Its the perfect amount of time to get some stuff done around the house, or homestead if you will.
That's only if you don't decide to put your name in for a field trip. Oh those are so much fun. Last year I'd take as many as I could, some days working for 12-16hrs. Hence the dropping off the last two years. Things fall to the side when you're out of the house from 6am to 10pm. Even if I did manage to make it home in between runs, it would be a mad rush to set dinner up for Caveman and Goomba, and make myself some food.

Driving the bus has given me driving confidence, but more importantly, joy.
And I can't wait to see my kids again. They may be little gremlins some days, and drive me incredibly insane, but I love 'em and wouldn't change it for the world.

(still not my bus)
Here's to hoping this year isn't nearly as hectic as last year.

Happy first day of school!
