Seed starting season!!!

It's March and the weather is officially supposed to start getting warmer from here on out.  With any luck, or love from Mother Nature, it'll be planting time before you know it! I get so excited just thinking about it. Getting outside in the sun, putting my hands in dirt, watering, nurturing my plants!!! Spring just cannot come fast enough.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

IRELAND, Irish flag
While I, personally, am not Irish, and therefore do not particularly "celebrate" St. Patty's day, Caveman claims his family, in some distant way, is Irish.  So I thought in honor of this cultural holiday, I would celebrate with some interesting facts, some delicious corned beef, and maybe a few beers.

ENJOY!

       St. Patrick
is known as the patron saint of Ireland.  What began as a religious feast day in the 17th century has evolved into a variety of festivals across the globe celebrating Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, and a whole lot of green

I love to compost! Making beautiful dirt from “garbage,” it’s amazing. It’s also one of the easiest ways of adding value to your soil.

It’s March and you know what that means? BEANS!! Well, not for everyone, just me. I’ve made plans this year for food preservation every month, except December… I decided December is busy enough without trying to shove extra food prep in there.

SNOW DAY

Just thought I would take a minute to show you the beautiful snow we get here in New England.

Normally, I LOVE snow, but seeing as it's March, and yesterday it was probably 60 degrees, I'm not thrilled with this late snow. Goomba and I already planted peas in the garden. I know it was risky, but we had such a long warm streak, we had to. Of course, those peas may never come up. They, too, were an experiment of sorts. You'll notice that much of what I do is experimentation. This one in particular was an experiment in seed saving. I've never saved peas for planting and last year I tried it. Not entirely sure if I did it correctly. I guess we will see!
